Online shopping: Miu Miu, Rachel Pally, Cynthia Vincent open e-stores

Pally2 Lots of new fashion brands have opened e-commerce sites in the last couple of weeks, including MiuMiu.com, where you can a larger selection of shoes, bags, belts, jewelry and apparel than I've seen at any of Miu Miu's bricks-and-mortar boutiques, including the tiny one on Rodeo Drive.

Two Los Angeles designers have also launched e-shopping businesses. Just in time for summer, Rachel Pally's fluid, jersey maxi-skirts and dresses, jumpsuits and pants are all available in one place at RachelPally.com. (You'll find the plus-size White Label there, too.)

And Cynthia Vincent, who recently opened her first bricks-and-mortar boutique in SoHo, is now open online too. Her flutter-sleeve dresses, wedge gladiator sandals and Navajo print sweaters can be found at Shop.CynthiaVincent.net.

Happy hunting.

Shop global treasures at Indagare's pop-up trunk show

Souk1-feature

Worldly shoppers — and those who long to be — take note.

Member-based travel company Indagare is hosting a bazaar of global goods in L.A. Tuesday and Wednesday featuring rare, hand-crafted items from countries including the Philippines, India and Kenya.

The upscale travel site scours the world for handmade items from artisans and sells them online and at pop-up trunk shows, or souks. Think glass-beaded necklaces and bracelets from Rwanda, colorful silk scarves from Cambodia, hand-hammered gold jewelry from Kenya, cashmere scarves from Mongolia and woven leather bags from Argentina.

Indagare founder (and former Town & Country editor), Melissa Biggs Bradley, started hosting the souks to introduce her friends to a handful of amazing artisans — many of whom are working with women's groups and small communities to build sustainable workshops in impoverished communities.

"A few years ago, I noticed that my real shopping thrills came when I unearthed treasures in the markets of small towns in Peru or Brazil, or in the bazaar in Cairo or Marrakech or in little boutiques in Asia or Europe, where artisans were making one-of-a-kind accessories or fashion or objects," said Biggs Bradley.

Since then, the website has hosted souks in New York, Southampton and Chicago. The first L.A. event will be held at the Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel (9882 Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills). There will be a member preview from 10 a.m to 12 p.m. Tuesday, but public hours will be from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. both days.

Oscar de la Renta’s Fashion Advice You Need to Know!

Oscar de la RentaSipa Press

Oscar de la Renta has dressed many women, from First Ladies to pop superstars like Rihanna to leading actresses like Anne Hathaway. And after his over-five-decade career, what does he want to tell every woman? “Dressing well is telling yourself many, many times, ‘No, I should not do it,’” the designer advised when he spoke at the French Institute Alliance Française in New York City this week. “When in doubt, don’t. The one thing that won’t lie to you is your mirror.” Other than restraint, he also suggested knowing what you like. “What is important in dressing is understanding yourself,” he said. “Don’t follow any fads. If it’s right for you, then wear it.” As for elegance? “You have to be elegant naked to be elegant dressed,” he said. “Feeling good about yourself is the most important thing.” Very true! Bookmark this page so you can remind yourself of his style advice, over and over again!

Also making an appearance at the event was Efron’s former flame (and fellow HSM alum) Vanessa Hudgens. In New York City, Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie serenaded a crowd of Avon ladies to mark the 125th anniversary of the beauty brand, while across the pond in London, Kylie Minogue took in a performance of the buzzed-about burlesque revue, The Hurly Burly Show.
