A day after the murderous rampage in the American South comes the news out of Winnenden, Germany, a town of 28,000 that a 17-year-old kid took one of his father's guns into the high school he graduated from a year earlier and opened fire.
The final toll: 16 dead. Nine students, three teachers, two people he killed downtown after fleeing the school, two more he shot in a neighboring town after hijacking a car -- and himself.
A friend told the Associated Press that the shooter claimed to have been mocked by fellow students and ignored by teachers.
