History of Nike

Recently I did an informative speech for speech class on the history of Nike.

Here are a few important dates of Nike Inc.

1962: Philip H. Knight founds Blue Ribbon Sports
1964: Blue Ribbon Sports begins partnership with William Bowerman
1979: First line of clothing is launched
1980: Nike goes public
1984: Nike signs Michael Jordan to endorse its Air shoe--the 'Air Jordan.'
1990: First NikeTown opens in Oregon
1991: Revenues reach $3 billion
1996: Company signs golfer Tiger Woods to a 20-year, $40 million endorsement deal

Overall I thought my speech was mediocre. I should of made more eye contact, less body movement, and slowed down at times.

Tiger Woods is Back in Florida After family counseling the past week in Arizona. he is suppose to be getting back to a regular schedule of fitness and golf. Woods has been hitting balls on the range since he returned home Saturday. Woods said at his address on Feb. 19 that he does plan to return to golf one day but doesn't know when it will be. I guess we will have to wait to see just when that is.

Tiger Will Be Back By Masters (Probably)

Tiger Woods is currently on an indefinite leave of absence from the PGA Tour, but I don't think that it is gonna last. Tiger has missed some of his earlier events before the Masters because of injuries and his father's death, but has always been back in time to play the masters and also to play a few events to prepare for the Masters. Even though he is busy straightening out his life, Tiger will take advantage of the opportunity to get away from it all and play a round of golf at Augusta National this April.

Steroids and The Hall of Fame

Mark McGwire, as you know, is in the news again and I just want to come out and say a few things about the Hall of Fame. First off, I think baseball in general and especially the Voting Committee for the HOF need to get on the same page with the whole thing. Second, I think that they should let in people regardless of controversy regarding them and the use of steroids. I think this because there are people who have probably taken steroids and are in the HOF. I just think that there are too many cases regarding steroids and you can't just cherry pick who you want to put in; for instance, a voter could vote for one person who took steroids but then later on he could not vote for some who also took steroids just because he doesn't care for that person as much as the other. All in all there is just no common ground with who and who doesn't get in regarding steroids. FIX IT BUD (Selig)!!!!!!
