Redes' Roost

It feels kind of cheesy writing so much about our cabin getaway, but if you've never been a guest here -- or even if you have -- these two photos say a lot about the get-away-from-the-city appeal of the place.

Above, the foxglove is in bloom everywhere on the island. This view from our porch is what we look out every morning. Imagine yourself with a fresh cup of coffee, looking out the window at four birdfeeders and enjoying the sights and sounds of the creatures they attract.

You've got some pleasant chirping and cheeping from pine siskins and juncos (and the occasional grosbeak) and then the faster-than-the-eye "buzzing" from the wings of rufous hummingbirds drawn to the nectar-like solution at one particular feeding station.

Below, we've also attracted much taller creatures. Lori said there was a male and a female deer that came very close to the porch while I was away on an errand. She took this photo through the front window as well.
