Molly's Shower Pix

See my Sunday post for some background on the theme of Molly's shower.

The napkins were made from a painters' drop cloth. Laundered first, then cut into squares, and hemmed. The custom monogram was handwritten on each napkin using a brown Sharpie. After the shower the napkins were washed and given to Molly to use when she and Jamie entertain. (The monogram laundered beautifully.)We took the nature theme a step further by using bagasse plates which are disposable, compostable and biodegradable, not to mention that they are a lovely warm shade of white. We got bamboo forks online, very inexpensive and totally unique. On the smaller dessert plate, we did the handwritten monograms, again using a brown Sharpie. We served most of the food out of wooden bowls or on wooden butcher blocks to fit in with the theme.
For the tables we used cloches and glass domes and created terrarium-like vignettes. We collected the moss, lichen, succulents, and ferns from right outside our doors. The mushrooms were store bought.

Even the fireplace became a vignette, using logs, fresh flowers and the mushrooms. White hydrangea behind the logs frame the arrangement. (The bride-to-be, mother of the bride, and mother-in-law of the bride also got white rose mini corsages to wear.)

We had saved the stump of our office Christmas tree from when it was chopped up and hauled away after the holidays: it wound up being the perfect column to hold a small bowl of forest greens on the drink table. For dessert we had pumkin cookies and these chocolate chocolate cupcakes topped with meringue mushrooms (the mushrooms were not easy to make but sooooo worth it in the end). The brown cupcake liners were found online.
