Warren Buffet

Today I am going to write on my overall performance while giving my ten minute informative speech over Warren Buffet. First I would like to talk about why I picked Mr. Buffet. I picked Warren because he is a entrepreneur icon to me. The person who pursued happiness not coming from the wealthiest family. I also look up to him for his stock market excellence. The best part about him is that he lives modestly even though he is the third richest man in the world. Now to critique my overall performance in the speech. First, and the issue I need to definitely address the most, is to stop over using my hand gestures. Second, I need to work on memorizing more and telling it more like a story other than read of the PowerPoint. Thirdly, I need to work on being more comfortable with the audience watching. My way to improve all these is to first just put my hands behind my back. Second, start memorizing the PowerPoint a few days before. And third, maybe tell a joke first so I can loosen up myself and the audience.

Bad News Day

Unfortunately, my family watches Fox New Channel a lot. And, you can tell when they have something to report and when they don't. For example, when they actually have news to report-- lets take the Chile earthquake--they do a good job of reporting, in my opinion. They have so much information that they have to tell only the most important event and can't say it all.

Though, when they have a bad news day they seem to take the smallest thing ever and make it having to deal with politics blaming the democrats constantly. Also, when it's a bad news day they will take the smallest thing and talk about it forever. Such as recently-- when the children were up in an air traffic control room, and helping planes take off.

Sure, tell me the new BRIEFLY, but don't take up sixty minutes of my life to do it. Then, when they also have something small to report on they bring in all these so-called big people to say how terrible it was. That is another thing that drives me nuts! Can't there ever just be a good news day for once instead of all this bad news. Instead of showing me someone who robbed a bank, show me some one who did something great like help charity, etc. If I was trying to solve this problem, I would switch the news to airing how it use to be. Where there was an hour of news in the morning, and one hour of news in the evening, you should only report what truly matters. Second, I would get some one that could report the news honestly (if this is even possible) without putting their twist on things.

Killer

Most, if not everyone has seen the movies Jaws. Great movie that was scary in 1975 when it was released, but in today's movie business--with special effects being out of this world--it's really not that scary. Due to the fact that the shark really does not look scary and you can tell it is fake. So, after Jaws came out, I am sure a lot of people were thinking twice before jumping in the ocean for a swim. Well, what I am trying to get to is America has a stereotype that sharks are terrible, uncontrolled killers...and by far the worst killer in the sea.

I believe that the worst killer is not sharks, but a Killer Whale. As many of you probably know by now, a killer whale named Tilikum killed a forty year old trainer in shallow water at Sea World by dragging her under and drowning her. This is not even his first kill. He also killed a 22 year old man a few years back.

I think the Killer whale is easily the deadliest animal in the water to this day. I mean how do you think it got its name ...KILLER whale. In my opinion, the only reason why people do not fear killer whales, and do not think of them as much when the go into the ocean, is because they do not lurk where people swim. Butthey are, in my opinion, ten times more deadly then the average shark. I base my opinion a Discovery documentary that I watched a month back. It was on a place called Seal Island; some scientists were going to check out all the sharks that lurked in the waters during this time of year. They went out and, on the third day, they noticed that a Killer Whale was also in the area. Their curiosity made them track it. You would wonder what is the worst a killer whale could do around one hundred plus sharks? Two days later they found something...there were three sharks swimming together, and this killer whale took out the middle one and ate it. Then, in the next days all the sharks disappeared off the island for the year. One killer whale, one hundred plus sharks: amazing. That is the reason I think that Killer whales are the deadliest species in the ocean and the shark hardly compares to the killer whale.

The Most Meaningless Game in Sports

The Pro Bowl is the most pointless game in all of sports because it services no purpose. It is also hardly entertaining for the fans for this reason I believe we should get rid of the Pro-Bowl game for good. My reason for getting rid of this game is that it is risky for the players that play in it. Sure the players probably meet before hand, and talk to each other and say were going to play safe no injuries, but lets face it -- it's FOOTBALL and it's a dangerous game. I mean picture this, you have a skilled team with a great quarterback that makes everybody else look good. Now what if this guy got injured, say a torn ACL. Not only would the players and team including front office but the town would be. It would effect the players by there hopes for next season and would he heal soon enough or would he 100% by the beginning of the season. It would have a major effect on the front office I mean lets face it you do not get wins you lose money, big time. Now looking at all those negatives weigh the positive if any against the negatives. One positive is that it bring professional football to Hawaii. It also bring extra revenue to the NFL which is also positive. Though there are a few positives its not worth the risk of ruining someone's season

Super Bowl Bound

J-E-T-S Jets Jets. Yes, ladies and gentlemen the Jets are the real deal. The coach, a rookie at his job, and with a quarterback that just stepped on the NFL scene 19 weeks ago. The Jets season is lopsided and filled with many bumps and twists in the road. The Jets season started off great with a 3-0 record. Sanchez looking like a seasoned veteran throwing for and average of 202 yards per game, and a 4-2 TD to INT ratio. Also, with the coach looking like a genius by moving up in the draft to get his franchise QB, and a absolute mastermind on the defensive side of the ball.

Then, as soon as success started, it was ripped away from them when they dropped there next three games. Everyone in the NFL was considering them not for real, and no one was predicting them to go to the playoffs. So the season went by and the Jets had two must win games remaining on there schedule. The feared Colts with a 14-1 record and the Bengals who had already clinched a playoff birth. Luckily for the Jets the Colts rolled over barely playing their Hall of Fame worthy QB in Peyton Manning, and having most of the backups start. So the Jets escaped that battle by winning 29-15.

The next challenge was the Bengals who also rolled over by not starting their QB Carson Palmer so the Jets demolished there competition in the Bengals 39-0. Then on Saturday of wild card weekend the Jets played there first contestant in the Bengals. Who just the following week they had beat by 39 points. The Jets beat the Bengals in a rather controlling game 24-14. Though the Jets pulling the upset of the 3rd seed in the AFC playoffs, but no one doubted the fact that they could. Then the next week playing the San Diego chargers no one expected them to win except their rookie trash talking coach Rex Ryan. So the Jets flew to the west coast to take on the number two seed in the AFC playoffs. Who had won their last 8 games and were hot. The game started off slow with 7 points scored in the first quarter by San Diego, but this is the game the Jets wanted to play. They knew there defense could make plays, and all they wanted was a low scoring Defensive battle. So in the Second Quarter the Jets got their first, first down of the game with the offense looking terrible the Jets went into half still believing. The Jets came out in the third quarter and got a quick field goal in the third quarter. Then in the fourth with the help of the defense and the offense coming to life the Jets scored 14 unanswered points to put the score at 17-7 Jets. Finally the Chargers answered with 2 minutes and 14 seconds they scored by a Philip Rivers one yard running TD to put the game at 17-14. After the touchdown the Chargers were stuck in a sticky situation to either kick away or onside kick. The Chargers opted to kick away. So the Chargers had to stop the Jets and not let them get a first down or else time would run out. So the Jets ran it three times then on fourth and two the Jets decided to go for it on the Chargers 35 and made it, and the Jets won. Next week the Jets face the number one AFC seeded Colt and are extreme underdogs, but in my opinion I think they will win with their defense and power running game, and a Cinderella team will make it to the Super Bowl again.
