I just wanted to take a few moments to let my students know how much I appreciate and respect them. I am always so proud of the work you do in class -- but I am proud of you for so many other things, as well.

I am amazed by your selflessness. You are, as a whole, a very giving group of young people. Example: For the last two years, the English II students have raised money for Catholic Charities / FISH. A ton of money, really. But, not just that. You give your time to help others. That is a great trait and hopefully something you will continue to do throughout your lives.

You are intelligent. Yes, all of you.
  • While I have only a few seniors in AP Literature, I see how smart and hardworking you are. I have enjoyed having you in class and I know you will experience great things in the future.
  • AP Language -- you know how I feel. You are amazing. Simply amazing. Okay, FRQ #2 wasn't so hot, but that is one essay out of twenty and 99% of your work looks better than what most college students produce. You are all 9's, IMO.
  • English II -- I could not be happier with you. I feel blessed to have such an awesome group of students. You are bright, funny, and hardworking. You have faced a number of challenges this year -- and you have succeeded every step of the way. I can't wait to teach most of you again next year.

Most of all, though, I want to thank you for the way you behave in class. You are respectful and kind, helpful and friendly. Again, I am blessed to have such wonderful students. I just thought you should know -- because I don't always say it out loud.

Thanks for being awesome. Seriously. No, this is not a trick. No, you still can't have your cell phones in your pockets. No, I'm not giving you all extra credit. Yes, Carly and Hailey (and I) ate all the Skittles. No, purple Skittles are not the best. Everyone knows the green ones are super-yummy.
