Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies is a book that Mrs. Cross's English II class is reading this semester. It was written by William "Crazy Bill" Golding in 1954. Despite what many of the English II students believe, it is not about cannibalism. When asked if Lord of the Flies was a good book, English II student Charlie Schultz nodded. Lord of the Flies particularly differs from other novels due to the interesting allegorical relationships and symbolism throughout the novel. For example, the conch symbolizes democracy and order. The book also does an excellent job of exemplifying the author's interpretation of human nature. Because of the book's popularity and success, it was twice adapted to film; once in 1963 and again in 1990.
