Osama Down. Mrs. Jones 2 Go!

As you all know Mrs. Jones is not the biggest supporter of President Obama. Recently war has ensued between Poston and Jones. It all (supposedly) began when a few of Poston's students placed several photocopied pictures of President Obama around her room while Poston was distracting her in the hallway. Pictures were placed on the chalk boards, in the book shelf, and even in the printer. Today Mrs. Jones decided to get even. She brought out the big guns and employed some very willing students to put up pictures in Conceptual Physics of a page showing a creepy little girl in a yellow sweater. They plastered his room with these photos during lunch and were almost caught. They wrote REVENGE!! on the board (I wonder if it was for them or for Mrs. Jones? :D). Now it was Poston's turn to get even...

Poston's 6th hour Chemistry class (allegedly) made the above flyer (one similar to not exactly the same no evidence). And printed the flyers off on Mrs. Jones' printer. Now the feud goes on ... no telling what will happen next!

Say Cheese

(Just now surfing the web for Obama photos when I found this HE IS ADORABLE!)

Introducing Mr. Tadpole...

"Captured in detail with a high-powered electron microscope, this one-centimeter tadpole appears to be smiling for the camera. The remarkable image of the 14-day-old tadpole was taken after science photographer David Spears placed him under the microscope. The tadpole is actually forming his 'smile' through scraping algae from the surfaces of rocks as food. (Source: Huanqiu Online)" (http://gotosay.com/archives/5549).

This just goes to show you that things are not always what they seem.

Talk About Sand in Your Shorts

High-hoe sand sculpture! This was made on a beach out of sand (craziness!!!!). Ugh! sand would be everywhere just think you go to the beach and sit down for an hour and let's be frank you get sand in your shorts (unless your like me and wear 'bottoms' :* ... ). Just imagine the uncomfortableness they would have to go through...

Magneta-Boy

This photo and the Title basically says it all...

...yet if you would like to know This little boy is "magnetic". The seven year old Serbian boy, Bogdan, has the odd gift of magnetism apparently since birth. Not only does metal "stick" to his chest but china plates and the television remote control also "stick". Even going near things like computers is difficult; such things will stop working if he is around (That would stink if you had to type a Religion III paper for Father Bracco. I doubt he would believe that you were magnetic, so you were not able to use a computer).

Another child saw this boy on television and came forward saying he could do the say thing. The 6-year-old Croatian boy, Ivan, can even hold up to 55 pounds of metal on his chest. His "powers" reportedly work better when he is calm and in the morning.

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

You may be asking yourself anorexic, bulimic, or ....? but you would be wrong. This is Lizzie. She was born with a syndrome that forces her to have to eat every fifteen to twenty minutes (Wish we could all be half that lucky: I don't think so). Lizzie has almost died twice due to this syndrome and even went blind in one eye. People tend to judge her as anorexic without even contemplating an explanation for her size that is not her fault: the syndrome. Lizzie must constantly look after her weight and gets extremely excited when she gains even just one pound. She eats many things including pop-tarts, pizza, noodles, crisps, sweets, chocolates, chicken, cake, doughnuts, and ice cream each day. So remember don't make snap decisions based on appearance because you may (most likely) be wrong.

Roman Numerals

What are Roman Numerals? Where did they come from (in usage not country duh!)? What are they still used for? What do they mean? All very good questions let's answer a few...

Spanish Scholar Bowl

I know this was a really long time ago and it is kind of dumb to talk about it now, but I don't care. It was a blast! The younger group (us) lost really early. We hadn't played before and the other team looked really old like seniors or something. We didn't even know how to spell because we neglected to learn that. They beat us pretty badly but we caught up more towards the end. Even the announcer guy was intimidating. he had a thick accent and was hard to understand. He also explained some rule to us in the beginning but we had no idea what he was saying....:~So after we lost Jackie took us (not including Ms. Jones or Micheal) to the Starbucks! YEAH!!!! only she didn't really know where it was and we had to walk all over for it, but it was fun. Then we watched the older kids play. No offense but they are way too into it... they crushed the first team then fell to the next by one question :(. Then we piled back into the bus and Ms. Jones barely squeezed out of the parking place. After that we went to Quatros, had lunch, then left for home. We made it back even earlier than expected. overall it was a fun and very interesting experience.

Running into Things

Okay, a silly one:

I just ran upstairs to grab something for a blog article. I was trying to be nice to my parents and little brother who are sleeping, so I left the lights off...*BANG!!*... I hit a bar stool and all the trouble I took to be quiet was wasted when I said ouch really loudly. Our bar stools are big and metal.......they hurt really bad and don't go with you when you walk into them! Don't you hate it whenever you are being silly and hurt yourself because you being silly?

Extraterrestrials Exist

They exist! I know if you were in my speech class that I freaked out a little and made no sense. I think it might be that I am a little obsessive and insane...or something:). So if you want to know why I thought there was just a shadow of a doubt about aliens. Here are just 5 facts that may get you thinking about it too.

  1. It has been estimated that there are 100,000 to 1,000,000 alien civilizations in our galaxy alone.

  2. It takes 1,500 (don't know how to make a degree sign) C or 3,407 (Still don't know) F to make changes in the crystalline structure and mineral composition of a crop stem inside crop circles. (btw that is really high think about a 100 degree F day then times it by 34)

  3. Crop Circles are formed in mathematical proportion relative to the golden mean (vortex in nature used to create organisms). Crop circles have lead to five new geometric theorems (thanks crop circles like I really needed to memorize five more things for Jones' class...I can do bad all by my self)! Some even show fourth dimensional processes in quantum physics! Do you really think little farmers can do all that?

  4. A clay planisphere (like an ancient piece of paper) was deciphered and it gave a map from the planet X (aka Madruk) to earth. the Babylonians commemorate this with their "procession of Madruk" ritual.

  5. In 10450 BC the Great Pyramid was built and before hand there is no record of any architectural growth. (how did they move those blocks even with high-tech stuff now we would have a hard time recreating these!)!

Shout out: Thanks John for loving my presentation the best even before it started! I needed that kind, if not entirely true, comment!

Bathrooms and Brothers

Okay, I don't know what it is with my brother, but everyday I find something new that irks me. My brother and I now share a bathroom since we built our new house, but it wasn't always this way. when we lived out by the lake, all four of us -- my mother, father, brother, and I shared one bathroom. Some how it always managed to be pristine. Now that my brother shares a bathroom with just me, it is amazing! He manages to get water all over the floor after taking a shower, hangs his towel up wrong so that three days later it starts to smell (YUCK!), and gets toothpaste everywhere. I am glad that it will only be a few more years until I never have to share a bathroom with him again! My roommates better behave when it comes to cleanliness or I will majorly flip out!!

Speech

Speech...or if you erase some of the letters when it is on the board...pee (speech). If you are like me you are not very good at speech and are really ready to get out of it (not that it is bad or anything. I just struggle through it a little..:) or a numerous amount of times (I in no way was going to say lot)...). Well this was our last big speech and I am so excited that I will NEVER have to do one ever again. I am really bad at it if you didn't already know, but I'm okay with that.

<---- See! I am not the only one who freaks out!

Hailey Bushue
*I completely feel your pain. I am a nervous speaker, too! Even with practice and preparation, sometimes those nerves just won't go away...
PS: Why, oh why, does everyone keep erasing the S & CH! Sometimes it takes me days to notice that I've had "pee" on my board. Ya'll are sooooo mean to me!

Pizza Party

This was a really great idea. it was a very fun release for a day even if there was a little bit of a sour part (grading papers...Yuck!). The different contests were interesting. I still think there is a tie between Lexi and Kameran for the burping contest! Also there is a detention assigned to the first person to fart in Mrs. Cross' room, so don't do it! I would like to thank everyone for bringing things in for today, especially Zach and Brennen for the pizza and soda. Also thanks to Mrs. Cross for letting us have a pizza party even though we didn't win the penny contest!

(P.S. that is the cutest pizza party picture ever!!!!)

Animal Cruelty

Animal cruelty is all about being mean to animals...things that are smaller than you and mostly helpless. It is awful that so many people take their frustrations out on animals. Also when an animal can be killed humanely before we humans use their remains for our own purposes, they should be killed that way instead of in a brutal way.

My speech was a little rushed I felt that I talked a little too fast and should have slowed down. I wish I would have prepared more and memorized my speech more. I am slightly upset that my video wouldn't work in class because it was a real eye-opener.

How would you feel if animals did this to you?

Cino de Mayo

All I have to say is why didn't Spanish Club have a meeting and make this day extra fun? I have no idea.... It is an Independence Day right? It could have been a really awesome cultural day! hmmm...maybe we should start planning for next year.!.

Switching Places

No, I am not talking about literally switching bodies like in the Hot Chick or Freaky Friday. You all know that one person (or more) who always has nothing to do but have fun. I mean I would want to trade places with my cousin. I always have so much homework and things to do, but she is in kindergarten and gets nap-time and snacks. She even gets two recesses and she never has homework. How unfair! I wish we could switch places and I could go back to kindergarten for a few days. Don't you?

Hailey Bushue
*For what it's worth--you get to take English II and Speech--all at the same time. That's way more fun than recess and snack time (although, we get some pretty classy snacks most of the time).

Self-Defense

In seventh hour English II on Friday we were discussing self defense, so I thought why not do a blog about it!

Street Self Defense

Ten Effective Tips

1. Keep your hands up.

2. Take him to the ground. (when you are close to your opponent take him/her down a.s.a.p.)

3. Close the distance. (This is for real, I didn't make it up. The website says that if you get close enough to the attacker he/she will not be able to hurt/hit you.)

4. Hit first. (Incapacitate your opponent and run. If he/she hits you first you may not be able to recover)

5. This is the street, there are no rules. (pull hair, gouge eyes, pinch, bite, anything you need to do to get away)

6. If you get hurt/hit don't give up the hope of winning.

7. Stay calm.

8. Know your limits. (If all he/she wants is your wallet that has three dollars in it and he is stabbing you, give up your wallet.)

9. Your objective is not to win. (Don't beat your opponent unnecessarily. This could cause legal issues.)

10. This is not a movie. (Don't try to do anything too amazing, unless you are Jackie Chan!)

St. A Supporters

Nice try Basketball guys sorry we lost, you all played great!

T-town St. A game

Positive: The dog pound was awesome. I really liked all the people that came to support the guys. the red and blue face and body paint was interesting too. Highlights of the night included the flag waving, cheers, and Brown's dance moves (8* <-- that's a interested but confused smiley face btw).
Negative: I noticed some people coming in extremely late (after half time come on guys...). I'm hoping that those people just got lost. Then I saw many people give up and leave towards the end when we were losing. I mean it is hard to watch your team lose but if I were on the bench and saw several people leaving I would have felt bad and probably played worse because people just stopped believing (it is acceptable if you had a curfew or some other reason for needing to be gone by a certain time).
It really sucks that we lost. If your like me and have relatives that go to T-town High School then you should understand this... I texted my T-town cousin, who wasn't even at the game, during the first half to let him know that we were winning and he just dusted it off and said "Oh well, we can't win them all." And then at the end of the game he asked me who won (I didn't lie but I thought about it) so I told him that T-town did and rubbed it in my face (texting war ensued). Now I have to live with his gloating until track or maybe even as long as next year (Oh Goodness:(). Guys Next year let's win every St. Anthony vs. T-town game that we possible can that should shut some annoying relatives up for a while and plus it will be fun!

Have you heard about this thing called digital copy? Well if you haven't, digital copy is this thing you can use to take DVDs that you have bought recently to get a "copy" of the movie for you iPod/mp3 players. Tomorrow we do not have school (yeah! Casmir Pulaski Day) and I am going with my mom to Chicago so I decided it would be nice to watch a movie on the way up, so I tried the digital copy thing. I go through the first questions like "what country?" and "would you like to subscribe to this?". Then I click the button to get the actual copy and it says please wait. I did. After that it says if iTunes doesn't pop-up, click it on your desktop so I do and GUESS WHAT... the iTunes computer site comes up but it wants me to download iTunes which, duh I already have. I try again and the same thing happens. So this time I click on the support tab of the iTunes window. It is absolutely useless, so I go back and click on the other tabs trying to get help. There is nothing on their website that will help. Maybe this is why I find Computers annoying; they don't do what I want them to do.

Productive

Has anyone else ever had a very productive weekend? Well it happened to me this weekend I have finished so much and it feels great! I did work on my English II project, current events, my English II paper, and much more. Sometimes I find it hard to be productive. So if you ever find yourself in this predicament here are some tips for productivity:

  1. Plan it out! Have a routine.

  2. Have a Power Question. ( like what you may ask? -> Am I making the most of my time right now? )

  3. Skip the Small Stuff. Don't do the unimportant things on your list.

  4. Take Breaks!

  5. Have some fun in the car. Listen to audio books or even sing like Mrs. Cross.

  6. Have a Positive outlook; ignore those pessimistic losers who make you feel depressed.

  7. Pace yourself; don't work too hard!

  8. Share your result. Don't get all braggy but you can tell your family and hang your success on the fridge at home (or display it at work but that's so boring; magnets are fun!:))!

  9. Take your critisism and grow.

  10. Be Creative!(Look ?) and !) see that they look kind of like pirates!) Or if you're not a little crazy go with wearing a bright colored shirt. (Yellow works for Katie).
