A Discipline Age Limit?

Discipline: Should there be an age limit?

Having an age limit on discipline is absurd, especially at the age of six. I believe that the child should continue to be disciplined by parents or guardians if they live under their roof not because they turn six. They are more likely to not follow the rules if there is no discipline. You should abide by the rules because your parents are the ones who care for you. They don't have to keep you in their house once you turn 18. They can legally kick you out to live on your own. So if you want to continue living with your parents you should be wary of the rules. Rules apply to everyone everywhere whether you are 6 or 96. Discipline shouldn't stop at the age of 6 because throughout your life you still have rules to follow and need to suffer the consequences of your ill-conceived decisions. Children should not stop being disciplined at an age when they still don't know every right from wrong. Children that are six years old don't know the difference so it's the parents responsibility to teach the child the basic morals. If a parent fails to do this, then their kid has no idea of consequences of bad decisions. I am not saying that physical discipline is right for every child but in some circumstances the child needs to be shown by minor physical discipline that what they are doing is wrong. Children don't have an age limit for discipline because rules and punishment apply to everything that will become of them one day.

Convincing argument -- but who do I give the extra credit to?
