Casimir Pulaski Day

This past monday we were given the day off of school in honor of Casimir Pulaski. While all of us kids don’t care why we get a free day from school so long as we do, the ever repeated question around school is “ Who is Casimir Pulaski anyway?”.

Casimir Pulaski is a famous Polish soldier who served in George Washington’s army at the recommendation of Franklin on account of his courage and bravery he routinely exhibited. Following his resignation from the army, he became known as the “Father of the American Calvary” because of the intense training and preparations he put the Calvary he formed through. Pulaski was a great asset when the United States was battling for its freedom from Great Britain in the late 1770’s. While leading an attack, Pulaski was injured with a grapeshot that proved to be fatal a mere two days later. His efforts in the war are never to be forgotten, that is why we honor Casimir Pulaski every year with a day off school! :)
