Bellettes

Most of you see us perform at the games, but the Bellette team seems to almost be forgotten about during the winter months. So I thought I would give you a little info about what we've been up to for the past couple months. Well, if you want to know about everything we have this 2009-2010 season, we can start with the summer. In July we went to Illinois State for a UDA dance camp. We learned three dances each and performed a home routine as well. Since then, we performed at all of the home basketball games since Meet the Bulldogs. In December and January, our team began learning our competition routines, one jazz and one lyrical. For those of you who aren't familiar with dance, jazz is the upbeat, more powerful type of dance, while lyrical is a softer style that usually tells a story with the lyrics of a song. Anyway, on the last Saturday in January the Bellettes traveled to Clinton to compete at our first competition. We placed 2nd in jazz with a state qualifying score and 3rd in lyrical. A week later, our team traveled to Tuscola, where we placed 3rd in jazz and 2nd in lyrical. (Thanks to Liz, Paige, Lexi, and Lauren for the support by the way! :) On February 20, we competed in Benton, Illinois, and placed 1st in jazz and 2nd in lyrical. We also received state qualifying scores for both! A week from Saturday, March 13, the Bellettes will be performing at the U of I Assembly Hall for the state competition. We really would appreciate support from anyone who is willing to travel to Champaign to watch us! Ohh and Christa, Avery and I are making t-shirts for our fans who are coming! Let us know if you're interested.
