Today (okay, so 2/1/10) I thought I'd talk about something that some of you may have experienced (you're lucky if you haven't) a migraine headache. So, to start a migraine is a common type of headache that generally only effects one side of the head (for example right now my left temple feels like it's going to explode) Common symptoms are nausea, vomiting, and increased sensitivity to light or sound as it goes on. In some people an "aura" can be a sign that a migraine is about to occur. An "aura" is a group of symptoms usually visual that may cause you to see zig-zag lines or stars, one side of your vision may be distorted as well however, this isn't common. A migraine headache will usually last 6-48 hours, (I've had one last four days) fell throbbing, pounding, or pulsating, and start dull and gradually become worse within minutes to hours. As adults migraines occur more often in females then males about 75% in females and 25% in males, however, before adulthood they generally occur with the same frequency in males and females.
