My Week of Bball Madness
This past week was the annual Effingham Girls Basketball Tournament. As usual, our team gets a crummy schedule and we had to play three games in consecutive nights, while also having an extra regular season game on Thursday and the final tournament game on Saturday. We started off with a loss to Centralia on Monday. (And by the way, we could have sooo beat them, but I think we were all just tired from the weekend.) The following night we defeated Neoga in a tough game due to their taller players. On Wednesday the Bulldogs faced Effingham and we ended with the victory. Needless to say, by the time Thursday rolled around, we were all a little exhausted. After sleeping on the hour and fifteen minute bus ride to Paris, we drowsed and hobbled into the gym. Paris, already a good team without us being more slow and tired than usual, found the easy win. The fact that one of our starters and our sixth player were sick, and I got injured in the start of the second half didn't help much either. Blessed Friday came along and we got to rest for a day. Saturday's game proved the effectiveness of rest, and we played well as a team. We defeated Dieterich and got second overall in the tournament. Three of our players were included in the All Tournament Team: Kelly McHugh, Victoria Wolke, and myself. All in all, the week went well and made our team improve. The season is coming to an end fast, so I am enjoying it while I can. ta ta for now,
Lena G.
